Gone to Camp

July 1998 (I think)
Ben and Hannah have gone to camp for the week. Ben went once when he was eight but Hannah has waited many years for the opportunity to attend the same Bible camp that her brothers and sister loved so much. (The photo was taken nine years ago.) I hope they have fun. Each has a friend there, a brother and sister from our old church, so not everyone is a complete stranger. Also, Hannah will be twelve on Wednesday and celebrate her birthday at camp. (I wonder what they will do for her? Make a cake and sing, I think. Bethany knows...)
The house is strangely quiet today, no kids of my own (Nate is off on a job with James), no kids to babysit. What will I accomplish today? Nothing if I spend too much time sitting here...

  1. Ahhh, a day alone in your own house. That is what dreams are made of. I may not have kids living at home, but I do have Carl, he is home 24/7. Enjoy!! Do all the things you can't do with little eyes and ears about. Stroll naked through the living room, :O)

  2. Oooo! Now that's a scary thought, especially with the rather large windows in my house!

It's been a rather quiet and lonely day so far although James did call and Dave stopped by looking for some ramps for the car. Maybe I'll take a short walk with Jasmine and then do some painting...

  3. I hope they enjoy it, I went to the bible-camp also , but had to wait until I was 17 years old, I could go when i was 15 because my 2 sisters went there (they were older than me) So lucky me I could go when I was 15 years (youngh)old.

I am not sure if the bible-camp 'where Hannah and Ben' are going to , is the same kind of camp where we went. (because of te age limit?)

I am going on holiday by the end of this week, so when you miss me, thats the reason..

    Bye from JoAnn

  4. I imagine it will be harder on you than on Hannah Wednesday. I'm sure they will make her day special. It was a beautiful day today. (I had to drive over there today for jury duty.) Isn't it funny how we wish for some time to ourselves and then don't know how to fill it? Paint a little, read a little, reflect a little.

  7. Oh Martha, what a different kind of day for you! So quiet. Was it relaxing and peaceful or did you just miss everyone?

  9. A little of both, Heather. I called a few friends but everyone seemed to be busy doing their own thing, so I puttered around here and did a little painting. Today I have Sara and Alysa to keep me company.

  10. I think it's cool you send your kids to camp. I never went as a kid but always wondered what it would be like. Remember the old "Parent Trap" movie? That's how I have always imagined camp to be. I bet they will have all kinds of stories to share when they get home!
