Sunday Night Breakfast

Sunday Night Breakfast is a rather common occurance at our house. After a late night chuch service (6:30-8 pm) we return home close to nine o'clock. It's really too late to eat anything heavy so breakfast often seems the perfect choice. Last night Nathan stayed for worship practice and his friend Max offered to bring him home if there might be some breakfast waiting. I smiled. "We're having French toast," I said, to which he answered "Sweet!" Last week we had eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I try to have plenty of orange juice available and sometimes they pop in a video to watch while they eat. Last night it was an old Roy Rogers movie. On those nights when I'm tired I stop to realize how quickly these days will pass and purpose to enjoy them while I can. One of my biggest fans of Sunday night breakfast moved to Minnesota last year. I'm looking forward to having him home again at Christmas and maybe he'll even be around to catch breakfast with us one Sunday night.

  5. heres the thing...this is sooo much like an old Newfoundland thang...my grandparents, especially after church on Sunday night always had a breakfast thing going on...hot tea of course but possibly scones, pancakes, bacon and eggs, cinnamon buns..french toast, beans and bacon with eggs on the side, fish and brewis (that is dried cod with potatoes and bacon bits (called scrunchions) mixed together and fried golden brown and served once again with hot fresh tea..but always something folks served for breakfast..after church..breakfasts..a warm and wonderful family memory that will linger on for years..and now pretty soon..you will have scads and scads of little feet jumping up and down for after breakfast church..You may have to build a double kitchen soon...hard to imagine..but think back to boulder..and that was just the immediate family then..anyway...its a wonderful tradition no matter how you look at it..hope I am there sometime soon to also enjoy it..take care and big hugs love you..yoma

  8. Grandma, were ya'll feeding an army or did you just love breakfast for dinner that much? ;-)
When we were kids each one of us had a night to cook. Megan always chose breakfast for dinner...although it wasn't fancy breakfast, it was oatmeal, but still. To this day I remember waking up every Sunday morning to dad cooking breakfast and all of us sitting at the table to eat. We only get to do that Christmas Day now, but it's still something I look forward to every year.
Keep making and enjoying the memories, it's something neither you or your kids will ever forget.
