"Make Like a Tree...

... and leave."

What a mean thing to say but then we aren't always kind, are we? I've been thinking a little bit about President Bush and how so many people are quite anxious to see him move out of the White House to make room for Mr. Obama and "Change". Lots of folks are very upset with how Mr. Bush has run the country the past eight years but I can't for the life of me see anything he is totally responsible for that is so deserving of their disdain. I for one would like to thank him for keeping watch over our country since 9-11, for standing firm on Christian values, and for not giving up as the pressures have mounted. Maybe living five miles from a boarder nuclear power plant makes me think a little more about terrorists. Call me foolish and naive but I am proud to have had him as our President.

  1. Me too, I'd like to think we're not naive, but more gracious :), and I hope President Bush knows there are some people who appreciate him. Maybe we should write him a letter.

  3. I have many friends who are very angry about President Bush. And they can't explain why. All of it is nonsense. The only thing they can say is "Iraq", but I just heard O talking about moving the troops from Iraq to Afghanistan. Wasn't he supposed to bring them home?

  4. LOL, Kristina, are we on a first letter basis now? I am tired of politics, I want to see the new china pattern, and the new White House pet. I'll continue to pray for God to guide our leaders and me. :D

  5. Me Too!!!I totaly agree. With all of these people complaining about him,all I can say is that he has had one of the hardest 8 years in office. How many of us could have survived what he has had to survive. If we were the ones in office how would we have done differently? He had to make alot of important and difficult decisions, maybe he didn't always choose the right thing but how many of us are that perfect even in our own lives to say that we always make the right decisions and he had to make the decisions for the whole country.I will miss Bush as President!!I can't say I feel very safe right now with what is comming.

  6. As Americans we should be above torturing other people.
We are above holding people without charges.
Jesus loved the poor and humble.
Bush sent their sons and daughters to die in Iraq - a country that did NOT attack us.
    Jesus loved the peacemakers.
As a Christian, I cannot condemn Bush but am hoping we can go back to the good values I was brought up to believe in.

  7. We should be above these things but a nation that will kill and destroy its own tiniest citizens in brutal and inhumane ways can never be above other heinous acts for long.

Bush did not send anyone to die in Iraq. Our military is voluntary and anyone joining must be aware of and willing to risk or even give his/her own life for the cause. I think the issues of national secrurity are far too complex for most of us to realize or understand. No matter what the media says, we do not have the whole picture, and neither do we understand all the reasons for our leaders decisions.

  9. I totally agree with you. Bush was left to clean up a mess left by Clinton, and did the best he could. There seems to be this pattern of the democrats making a mess, and then the republicans are left to clean it up and on it goes. All I can say is that we shall all see in 2-4 yrs what kind of change Obama will bring, talk is cheap!!! Have you been following Jeff and Rob's facebook comments? Very interesting. I have wanted to comment myself, but had to refrain. Best to stay out of it!

  10. I agree with you too, Martha! I believe the "media" is responsible for Bush's bad reputation, but so are the people who believe whatever they hear, and are led blindly. What was happening in Iraq was horrible beyond words, and I agree with you that more was going on than we know about, and Bush's character prevented him from defending himself. And who knows how it would have been twisted, anyway.. No one is perfect, and I'm sure the ones who elected the next president will find that out, too, and how will the press excuse him? Unfortunately, things may become messed up beyond fixing. So, our fighting the good fight of faith will be surely worth it! God bless you..
PS.. your grandson is way too cute!
