The Gathering of Family (Picnic part 1)

Yesterday was an absolutely splendid day for a family picnic. We drove a little over an hour down to Red Jacket Park in Penn Yan where my uncle has hosted Fourth of July picnics for the past fifteen years. Each year the crowd varies slightly with different cousins, aunts, uncles, and other friends and family members. Each year Uncle Chuck brings out his crazy homemade bicycles and the kids make spectacles of themselves riding back and forth in front of and through the park. Some years there has been stilt walking, bean bag tosses, or jump roping. This year's new fun? Pogo sticks. All the kids had to try it.

Audra is quite good at pogo jumping.

Bethany does everything in flip flops.

Pogo jumping makes Rachel happy.

  1. Everyone looks so happy and the weather does look perfect. Glad you got out and about and Uncle Chuck bikes, Ooou how come Bethany didn't bring her unicycle? :D

  2. She did bring her unicycle. Steven tried riding it several times, but never really got the hang of it. He will learn though! It was a fun day.

  3. That is one great picture of me and the one of Aunt Rachel s a riot!!

  4. That is so cool that you have an uncle who invites the whole family every year! Very nice. Looks like you all had a lot of fun!

  5. aaaahhhh! Now Rachel...I just absolutely LOVE this photo of you...everyone should have it 8 by 11...framed in a larger frame...and hung in a room that everyone hangs out in...there would never again be a gloomy moment...SPLENDID...
