Today begins the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, so last night at church we built a booth with our Wednesday night kids class. I'd imagine its not quite kosher. Not only did we build it inside we also forgot the table, but we did the best we could considering. On Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles, the Jewish people are supposed to "dwell in booths for seven days". This is to help them remember how their ancestors wandered in the desert for forty years. The Sukkot is supposed to be outside (of course) but we didn't have permission from our pastor to put it out in the church yard so ours was built in the Sunday school room. We'll have to imagine being able to see the stars through the roof at night.
That was so creative Martha and James! The kids will never forget that Bible lesson.
ReplyDeleteOh that is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI love this Martha. I started teaching Sunday School when I was 16, and taught for years, and years and years, and just lately turned that over to the younger ones. But I loved being creative in teaching, and I see you have that same gift.
ReplyDeleteInfluencing Children...the best gift we have because it will last through eternity.
Looks like fun! Wish I could've seen it... Will it still be there Sunday? Or did you have to take it down?
ReplyDeleteVery creative! You are always so full of good ideas!
ReplyDeleteHI Martha,
ReplyDeleteThis (practise) is THE best way for the children to learn about the habits from the Jewish religion, thats very well done, So is doesn.t matter that there's no table right? Its the idea what counts!
JoAnn :)
