My blueberry patch is looking slightly sadder this year than last. Each year since we moved here several bushed have died or become sick looking. It really is disappointing because we think our blueberries are just the yummiest ones around. We have searched some gardening books and have determined that it is probably some sort of bacterial or viral condition and the ailing canes or plants will have to go. We will even have to disinfect the pruners after each cut. Luckily, not all of the plants look sick and there appear to be plenty of berries. They're not quite ready to pick, but maybe in a couple of weeks they will be.
I'd probably be feeling blue too. Sorry to hear 'bout your bushes! I'm so glad that not all of them are infected!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you can save them too! We would miss the yummy berries and it would be a shame for all! Even the customers who so willingly dish out $ at the table by the road.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could contact the sugar shack in PennYan. They all went to berry school to learn the trade. They are all nice ladies!
I hope you have enough blueberries for Adam and I to put some in our freezer! Mr Morgan has been asking about our blueberries... I think he's wondering when you'll have 'em out by the road.
ReplyDeleteHow sad. I have actually been thinking about planting a couple blueberry bushes in our back yard. We need more fruit than just sweet cherries, don't ya think?
ReplyDeleteIve never seen blueberries still on their plants. Sorry they're not doing so well.
