Appealing

"Indicated." That's what the letter said. "Child abuse and Maltreatment of a Child." Now we appeal. The letters are written and we wait for a second decision.

Of course, neither of us actually harmed or mistreated any of the children. We have done everything in our power to keep them safe and make certain they are loved and treated with kindness. Children are wildly unpredictable, fast, and clueless and no teacher can be everywhere at once, no matter how much we care for the welfare of each child. This was the perfect storm. The women who came from OCFS and CPS said the same, and yet they handed us a "guilty verdict."

I am grateful we are able to appeal.

  1. Oh Martha, this is so NOT FAIR. It's so ridiculous it's almost funny, because you are one of the most compassionate and child loving people I know. But it is not funny at all, and I will pray for you that it all gets cleared up, glad you can appeal. My son Jon, 19, was falsely accused of something recently, it was a total mix up with someone calling a wrong number and thinking they were speaking to Jon, so assumed he was not where he was supposed to be, ect. This info was passed along, many thought he was being irresponsible when he actually was right where he was supposed to be. It was a trial to be sure, to get things straightened out, but Jon said, "Look at Jesus, He didn't do anything wrong at all..." It puts things into perspective. And God knows our hearts and our deeds:). Love you, Miss Martha, and I wish you well in this. :)

    1. Life is absolutely nuts sometimes. I feel for Jon because being falsely accused is terrible. I have faith that this will all get straightened out, and gratitude that the child's injury is healed. It's crazy how easy it is to get a serious, totally out of context allegation and than have it deemed indicated without a "fair trial." Yes, God knows and I am incredibly thankful.

    1. It is nothing much more than an annoyance at the moment, an unbelievable annoyance that needs to be cleared. We are in disbelief.
      Thank you for the prayers.
