My son "the editor" posted this on Facebook, "This book has been in print since 1969. Wonder how long this typo has been in it?" Although I recognize the illustrations as Richard Scarry's, I still don't know which book he was reading.
I stared at the picture, read it over and over, checked punctuation, and still couldn't find what was wrong. Funny how the brain wants to automatically correct what is out of place and fool us into thinking it's right...
It wasn't until my youngest daughter commented that I realized the error. Do you see it?

Spotted it right away... but I'm an anal editor!
ReplyDeleteHowever, it is amazing how easy it is to see what we want to see. We are so used to certain patterns.
I didn't get it until my daughter comment that "Bestie" was spelled with an "ie" not a "y". Silly girl!

...me, find a typo, never?
ReplyDeleteI'd have never caught that one.

I never saw it until someone's comment told me what it was. I had read it over and over again.
ReplyDeleteMust have been Hannie, huh?

I did see it, but it could easily be missed.
ReplyDeleteI missed it over and over! ha ha!
