Assault and Battery

Today I bought a brand spankin' new battery for my van. I'd gone to lunch with a few friends and afterward found my van to be a bit uncooperative. When I turned the key it didn't even go click. I called My Darling but he was 45 minutes away. I called Hannah who came to my rescue, but we found that even with the two vehicles attached to my shiny new jumper cables, still my van did not make so much as a click. (sigh) I called James back. With no way to help me, Hannah went back home and I wandered about the Dress Barn while waiting for my night in shining armor to arrive. He was able to get the van going and I followed him up the road, around the corner, and into the Auto Zone parking lot where a  pretty new battery was installed in my vehicle.

Not much going on at home. Hannah went out to play Frisbee tonight and came home with the announcement that "girls are dumb". She didn't elaborate. Maybe I'll have to go pry it out of her. :0)

    1. Thankfully, Hannah is seldom mean or hurtful. I tell her the other girl/s are probably just jealous of one thing or another. Too much drama.
Yes, YAY! Now I hopefully won't get stranded anywhere.
I call those flowers Indian Paintbrushes because that's what my mom called them.

  3. That is a 'weed' otherwise known as Indian's Paintbrush - or more politically correct "Native American's Paintbrush". A children's book by Tommie Depaoloa tells the legend.

I see the yellow version in my garden blooming now, the red version I haven't seen lately. Thanks for the pic!!

    1. Mom always called them Indian Paintbrushes. These are growing in our lawn. Guess that means the mowing is overdue...

  4. Or maybe not - one weed is another person's flower.

A lookup shows this looks most like Orange Hawkweed
"Pilosella aurantiaca" but my yellow ones look most like "Hieracium piloselloides" - several varieties of hawkweed.

    1. It is Orange Hawkweed, sometimes known as "Devil's Paintbrush". Guess I'd just as soon credit the Indians. :)
