N is for Nachos. (I would like to take the credit for the photograph, but the truth is, I borrowed it. However, if I do happen to take a picture of a platter of nachos, I hope they look just like this.)
As a small child growing up in upstate NY in the 1960's and 70's, I had no clue there was such a thing as nachos. Tacos were new to me in 4th grade, and honestly, I was less than impressed at the time. Fast forward to 2011 and I will readily admit that nachos are a weakness of mine. Pile on the cheese! Scatter the lettuce, tomatoes, and black olives! Heap up the guacamole and, yes please, I'll take a nice spoonful of sour cream on top!!!

yeah,I didn't know nachos when I grew up in Binghamton; don't know when I did, but now they're everywhere.

We never knew we needed them and now we can't live without them: Nachos!
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is watering and my stomach growling just looking at the photo.
Thanks for a nifty contribution to N-day!

I can relate Martha! Growing up in NYC I was clueless about Mexican food. I tasted my first Taco in Phoenix and have loved that food ever since.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of everything Mexican. I'm sure if you took a photo of a platter of nachos, they'd look like this. Great choice for "N" day!

I am with you. I didn't discover nachos until adulthood, and I too love them. Definitely comfort food.
