New Year, New Diet

In accord- ance with years past, the New Year has found me cleaning up my eating habits. It's been a full ten days of eating salads, veggies, fruits, and meats along with at least 8 cups of water. I haven't quite given up my couple cups of coffee each day. I intended to but found myself stressed out and decided that if coffee helped, it was better than chowing down on cookies or stuffing myself with Doritos. I will, however, admit to eating that piece of chocolate pecan pie so kindly brought to me by Rocky's dad a few days ago. I did feel just a tad guilty, but I was ever so well behaved when we had brownies and ice cream for Joe's birthday. I ate an apple instead.

  1. If you don't give in once in a while...it easy to fall off the wagon, and stay off. I would have enjoyed that piece of pie.

I need to send an electric blanket we are not using because it too small for our bed to our friend in Texas who is freezing. So today I made Zucchini Bread and Apricot Scones to send along with the blanket. I will break down and have a scone soon.

    1. I suppose if I can learn how to give in once in a while without falling off headlong, I will be alright. Perhaps the trick, Wanda, is to keep a good supply of apples and clementines, at least until the strawberries show up.

  2. I would never say no to occasional chocolate. I am not convinced it is all that bad for you. And pecans are not, either.

I applaud you on eating THAT many peppers at once! I'm only partially partial to peppers, myself. ;)

  5. Kudos to you Martha! I agree with Martha's comment. Balance is so needed in dieting and other things in life.

    1. Balance, yes. That is what makes it okay for me to sit down and relax with that cup of coffee and NO piece of coffee cake.

  7. I am not a good dieter. I am copying you sorta, I have been drinking lots of water and only 2 cups of coffee a day. I feel good about that.

But on purpose I eat sweets twice a day- I figure a small portion twice a day is better than feeling like I blew it anyway I might as well have one more... and one more...etc.

    1. It's hard for me to drink water on Saturdays. I get up later, then run out to the bank and grocery store and forget all about getting my fluids. But I am trying.

Any improvement has to be better than no improvement at all. And drinking m ore water is probably the best place to start. (I sneaked a few MnM's yesterday, but don't tell, okay? :)
