Not For the Squeamish

I slept with my hand in a bucket of cold water last night. By the time 2 am. rolled around, I was finally able to take it out of the water and sleep without any searing pain. The part where the skin peeled is just a first degree burn and, although it is weepy, it doesn't hurt much. All that ice water last night was really good for it, I guess. There will be no kisses from Momma on this boo boo! I put some burn ointment on earlier today and again this afternoon, but have since heard that burns heal faster if you can just let the air do its job. I have not been to the doctor and don't plan to go unless it starts looking infected. Looks like I won't be washing dishes for quite some time.

  1. Oh you poor dear. That is one nasty steam burn. I hope your family will really rally and do all the things that need to be done for you.

I've heard the same thing...air is good.

    Loving you tonight.

  2. You poor thing, that is much worse than I imagined. When you told me on the telephone that you had a steam burn, I was thinking of the minor ones that I've had, and those sting bad enough. That looks like it must have been so painful. I'm glad it's feeling some better. :x...there's a kiss for it from me.

  5. I saw the picture on Betsy's sidebar and had to see what happened to you. Good thing I'm not squeamish! Makes my hot glue gun burn from a few weeks ago (that still isn't completely healed but has been a bunch of thick skin all this time) look like nothing. Plus it was smaller. I suppose getting out of the dishes is a good thing, but getting a burn to do it is not. Hope you're hand feels better soon.

  6. Welcome to Lookin' Up, Kayren! One never knows what will be happening here!

Getting out of the dishes is okay unless one is hit with the overwhelming desire to clean the kitchen. Then not being able tuns into a slight form of torture. ;)
