use·less adj.
1. Being or having no beneficial use; futile or ineffective.
2. Incapable of functioning or assisting; ineffectual: He panics easily and is useless in an emergency. The world is full of useless information, and apparently useless websites too. Like this one theuselessweb.com Definitely useless, and if you follow the link, a bit more uselessness, in fact a new useless website with every click. And then there is a website dedicated specifically to Useless Information. (It's kind of like an online version of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader and leaves the decision of uselessness up to the discretion of the reader.)
I have a small and rather yappy dog. She is rather useless, unless one likes noise. Useless Noise might have been an appropriate name for her, we could have called her either, but we named her Sofie instead.
There are days in which I feel quite useless myself. You know the days, the kind where all of your get-up-and-go got up and went and you can't figure out where. Thankfully not every day is such. Purpose is what keeps a person going. and I suppose that is as good an antonym for useless as any.
Hopefully U found this post useful.

( For your enjoyment, a useless photograph... or two.)
She's probably glad her name is Sophie. haha.
ReplyDeleteDoes she at least bark when strangers are on your property?
She barks when nobody comes on our property. She barks at bicycles going down the road. She barks at nothing at all.
DeleteShe did that when she came here for that weekend in April, and at first she started to get Koty going until he realized how silly it was. She seemed much better toward the end of her stay.
DeleteRachel, maybe next time I'll send her back for another behavior lesson... the dog, I mean, not Mom.
DeleteI love your little photographs, Martha..
ReplyDeleteSometimes...when people are ill...like REALLY ill...I feel useless..
But...never around my kids...I always feel useFUL, when it comes to them...
Not bad, eh?
Cheers!
Linda
ps...get your strapping son to trim your Spirea...after it flowers...take lots off the bottom, that way it won't lay on your sidewalk...and won't be useless!! hahaha!
Kids are great for helping us feel useful and, come to think of it, they can be put to good use too!

PS. My Darling "trimmed" that spirea bush. We'll see if it comes back next year.
I really do think Sophie and Molly must be related.. They bark at the same things. But I would be out on the street it I told Don she was useless. TeeHee.
ReplyDeleteThis was everything but a Useless post! I loved it, and the pictures.
Silly little dogs! They could probably have great fun together.
DeleteYou have given me lots to think about--not useless at all.
ReplyDeleteAnn

ReplyDeleteEvery useless action can cause some usefulness by making you think and even meditate about it.
DeleteHave a useful week.
Wil, ABCW Team.
Yes, Wil, I suppose it can. So long as we put that uselessness to work, it can be useful... or something like that. :)
