Pretty Pictures

Hidden away in my mother's room is a folder full of papers, old news articles, pictures, and drawings. On a typical day Mom does word search puzzles, but today she had visitors instead. Priscilla stopped by for a bit and then my Aunt Margie.

Aunt Margie stayed for most of the afternoon. I don't know when or why the stack of papers came out, but they spent hours looking through them and pouring over articles. It was nice to hear Mom talking and sharing her treasures with her sister. I especially liked a couple of Mom's drawings. I don't have much of her artwork, so these were fun to see.

As they poured over the papers, they came upon a drawing, a page full of faces. Aunt Margie was impressed and I made her a copy to take home. I had caught just a snippet of them discussing the picture which my mother said she drew, but on closer examination, I am thinking this is one of my father's creations. I wonder what my sisters will think? (Rachel and her boys are quite certain this is "Grandma Lene's drawing. I'm glad my nephews were around when she was drawing with the kids she babysat.)

  1. Oh what fun treasures to find. Look at at all those faces...that must have taken some time.

Glad your darling came to the rescue and found a place for your tree. I treeless this year, but love the big poinsettia in that corner on the table.

  2. Both of my boys said that they looked like faces drawn by "Gramma Lene". They remember that she liked to draw faces. I think she did do these. I like both of these drawings.

    1. Okay then, I will believe she did them. They do, however, remind me a bit of Dad's faces. :)

  3. I asked them both separately if Gramma Lene or Grampa Al drew them and they both said "Gramma Lene" right away. Michael says, "There's no doubt in my mind". I guess I believe them. :)

    1. I believe. I think some of Dad rubbed off on her and it shows in her faces. Look at those "monkey" ones, and the lion. I honestly was totally confused looking at them, but I know your boys spent a lot of time there. They would know.

  6. You could submit them to Phoenix Trading as potential card designs. They make cards and stationary and use the artwork of people who submit theirs to be considered. I could totally see people buying either of them in card/gift wrap, etc.
