Daffodil Praise

Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
Psalm 28:2

It was bright and sunny yesterday but a cold wind stung my face and hands. My flower garden does not seem concerned over the weather. Fresh new shoots continue to stretch heavenward, reaching just a little higher each day. I couldn't help but think it appeared as though they were lifting holy hands to their God and Maker.

I am a rather private and reserved kind of person. I do not lift my hands in praise and worship during church. Though deep in my soul I want to, and I have done it, it is not my usual practice. It is my own pride that keeps my hands in my lap on Sunday morning and I am the one to suffer for it. Lord, forgive me. I want to praise You too.

I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
1 Timothy 2:8

  1. Martha, I'm not shy by nature, but being raised in a Baptist Church that did not lift hands, but sat on them, I didn't learn the freedom of worship until later in my Christian journey.

    However, my best times of lifting holy hands, is in the privacy of my home with my Worship Music playing.

    Love how nature teaches us things!

    Lovely post and Scriptures

  2. Wanda, I was also raised in conservative churches (Christian Reformed and Baptist). Our Baptist preacher very much frowned upon raised hands, even going so far as to preach against it. And yet, it is the Baptists who often ask for "a show of hands". I found that a wonderful opportunity, but still want to find the freedom in lifting my hands in simple praise during corporate worship.

  3. The daffodils really do look as if they worshiping our Lord and Maker... Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.

  4. I am a rather private and reserved kind of person. I do not lift my hands in praise and worship during church.

    I am too Martha, but I'm so glad the Lord sees our hearts and discerns the thoughts and intents of them.

    I am always blessed by your blog posts.

  5. Don't be shy.
    Nice post.
    Our flowers are looking out, too, but brrrrr, it is cold today! At least sunny~~
