So Far, So Good...

The weaving is finished. I have stopped several times in the process and gone to ask my dear husband what to do next. Sometimes I'm a little confused as to which hole the cane should go in. It is not with out a mistake here or there, but it looks pretty good anyway. The final step is the binder which I have never done. The holes on this particular chair are a bit small and so tying the binder on will not be easy.

  3. :You have a wonderful talent, knowing how to cane is very special, Martha. This kind of thing is becoming a lost art form. Only you can see the flaws. All I see is beautiful work. Wow!!

  5. That's amazing! I imagine it's not easy to do and takes lots of patience. You could open a business doing that! It looks perfect to me!

  6. It really is not too difficult, but does take some know-how and a little bit of patience. Also knowing there is a "grain" to the cane is helpful. If you string it through the wrong direction, it will want to break repeatedly. That is not fun.

  7. Martha, the chair looks great! You don't know me and I am fairly new to your blog and thought I would comment today. I noticed your comments and video about the Mexican orchard workers and it too brought a smile to my face. We are in the process of remodeling upstairs in our home and we are living in the basement. We have 3 tile workers who are Mexican. They are working 2 jobs each day and our job happens to be the afternoon evening shift. They are very hard workers and do great work. Anyway, each afternoon this week they come in with a bound of laughter, music, and singing. I just told my husband last night it brings a smile to my face when I hear them come in upstairs and I will miss them when they are finished with their work. Martha, I enjoy your blog and I too am a believer in God's precious love story. I don't know what I would do without Him. May He bless your life richly today.

  8. Hi Martha...Yes, we are having elections! Wow, I am so impressed that an American knows that Canada is also on the election trail. Our electin raice is not as exciting as the U.S.'s. That is for sure.

Popped over here to catch up...thanks for visiting my blog....
