A Little Bit Different
My lilacs are starting to bud. I don't know if they'll be out in time for the Lilac Festival but we shall see. I don't mind having a lilac festival of my own right here at home. The parking is always good and I never have to use one of those public porta-potties. The lilacs usually bloom at about the same time as the apples, so the Apple Blossom Festival will be running at the same time. I'm hoping for warm weather this year!
Jasmine is still loving springtime. Every time I go outside, she has to come along. Can't say as I blame her.

Toadally Ridiculous
Toads come in brown and green and have ugly bumps on their backs. The like to live in our gardens in the summer. Sometimes they live under a rock or in a "Toad House".
to be much more intelligent, live in the drainage ditch. This is a frog. Doesn't he look wise?

Swamp Friends
It is another day of sunshine and it feels even warmer today than yesterday with no cold breeze off Lake Ontario. The birds are happy, the frogs are happy, Jasmine is happy, and I'm happy! Today I opened my windows to let the fresh air in. It feels and sounds wonderful!
I caught a frog today and the best part was I didn't even get my feet wet! This little guy was singing his song in the swampy part of my neighbor's yard and I just walked out on the rock wall between our yards to have a look. I hear frogs on our side too but couldn't find any.

Man the Pumps!
The last two days have been absolutely gorgeous! Sunshine definitely gives me some extra ambition and I feel so much better! I'm so glad the Lord sent us plenty of sun this weekend.
We have been pumping water out of the backyard for the past couple of days and our lawn is slowly emerging from the depths. The grass is surprisingly green after months of being submerged. Good bye Teal Lake! (I probably should have dubbed it Teal Swamp, maybe that would have given a better discription of what it would become if we didn't pump the water.) I can hardly wait to get out the lawn tractor!

Signs of Spring
The weather has been much more pleasant the past couple of days. We still have a cold wind here by the lake but the sun is shining and its actually enjoyable to go outside. I think spring may be here to stay! I hope so. My daffodils have decided that it is safe to bloom and the hyacinths and tulips can't be too far behind.
I have been feeling rather sluggish lately and am looking for something to do. Maybe this afternoon I'll get out my rake and start cleaning leaves out of the gardens.

Lost at Sea
And lean not on your own understanding;
And He shall direct your paths.
I have been feeling a little bit lost these past couple weeks, like I'm not quite sure which direction to go or what path to take. The end of winter and beginning of spring are good at bringing out the melancholy side of me. On one hand I am eager to accomplish big things and on the other I feel an inability to follow through with that desire. I'd like to blame it on something other than myself but that isn't really fair when I am the only one able to do something about the problem. I feel a bit like a child who, after spinning herself around in circles until absolutely dizzy, takes off running at a sideways tilt. "Look out walls, here I come!" What direction am I headed anyway? Perhaps I am just tired from my week of fighting colds and allergies. Maybe I need nothing more than a good nap... or another cup of coffee.
...or a daughter to call (immediately after I finished this post) and ask if it was a good day to go for a walk. Thanks Beth!

If You Don't Like the Weather...
The weather here is liable to do just about anything. This morning we woke to a snow covered Easter, not just a dusting but several inches. It has been below freezing now for about a week and the flowers, which were thinking about blooming a few days ago, are looking rather droopy and sad. I'm beginning to wonder if the daffodils can survive such a long cold snap. (Good thing I have plenty of pictures from last year.) Today the temperatures have finally gotten back up to freezing and the warming trend is forecast to continue.
So, today was Easter Sunday. We don't typically do Easter baskets with our kids but we had a very nice ham dinner after church this afternoon. Our kids and my parents were here, only Leta was missing as she had to work. We had some fun drawing together and Mom and Dad played the marble game with Beth and Adam. Now the boys and Hannah are watching old Roy Roger's movies with James while I sit here and write. My parents have gone home and so have Beth and Adam. Looks like it will be a quiet and relaxed evening. Mmmmmm.... time for a nice cup of tea!

Wishful Thinking
snow none the less. It was not totally unexpected but I would much rather be seeing daffodils. I can hardly wait.
