Don't fret it. Appy your thoughts to what you will do with a new little one about. Do you have a crib, blankets, how will the dogs react to the babe? Are you having your entire crew home? Will some of them be spending the night? You got a lot to do to get ready, pies, turkeys, (or it it ham or goose for you and yours?) don't forget to clean behind the toilets and under the fridge! When I have overnight friends and family I always supply them with a seasonal basket of toiletries, you know, a new tooth brush, scrub puff, hand milled french soap, their own towel and wash cloth. That would be a lot of baskets for you, but hey that is what they make dollar stores for and it would keep you busy making lots of turkey baskets! Giggles to you Martha.
We will have Thanksgiving here again this year. We have the biggest gathering place so it works out well to have everyone come here. I will cook the turkey, stuffing and potatoes and the rest will be divided up amongst the "guests". I don't forsee any out-of-towners... unless Grandmanita decides to visit... I'm hoping Jim can make it home for Christmas and figuring he will be spending Thanksgiving with his friends, the Mullers.
I vote yes for loving Thanksgiving. I especiall love the left overs, and Pilgrim Sandwiches with lots of turkey, dressing and cramberry sause...Sorry If I was drooling on your post....! :)
:-) here's a napkin for you, Wanda! Don't forget the sweet potatoes, and pecan pie.
Of course the best part is having as much of the family as possible gathered together. Sorry, gmj, we won't be getting those fun baskets--but what a thoughtful thing for you to do!
Shelly-great lists on your old posts!
Martha-yep, one great thing about hosting is having others bring the side dishes
Lots of people don't like it and other holidays. I hate Daylight Savings Time. LOL.
Thanks for the generous comment on my blog today.
I do appreciate your visits.
I spent most of today working on my website at http://www.oldmanlincoln.com/ and added sections on Butterflies, Moths and Bumblebees. If you go I think you might be surprised.
Martha, I love Thanksgiving! I love making the food together with my Mom and then sitting down together. Plus, it's all warm and toasty because the weather is cool by then. One of my favorite Thanksgivings was right after Alan had been out to sea for 6 months and he returned shortly before Thanksgiving. We lived in Virginia and my parents came down to be with us. Nice memories.
Gmj, I love the idea of your gift baskets! Can I come? I love gifts!
Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I love the dinner and all the yummy things that go along with it. I love gathering with my family for the day. I love the fact that I don't have the pressure of buying or receiving gifts on this day. I love the leftovers, if there are any... And, I don't so much mind the preparation because I know it will be a wonderful day.
I love thanksgiving. what is not to like? Even cleanup isn't so bad with all the love in the kitchen of (usually) women working together. I'll be there!
Thanksgiving is a toasty warm memory. I do love Thanksgiving too. This year I have especially looked forward to Thanksgiving because we have someone new to share it with. Speaking of which, someone is cooing in the other room...
I want to celebrate American Thanksgiving here...as I love turkey and I have toooo much to be thankful for...and I love turkey too..and all the rest of the goodies including the whole house smelling like the bestest perfume ever...enjoy! I LOVE THANKSGIVING...IT SHOULD HAPPEN EVERY EVERY DAY!...not always with turkey though...
For me Thanksgiving is a day of both good and bad feelings. I love the food and family, the smeels and sounds. When I was a kid all the men and boys would go hunting. Whatever we got we took home and cleaned. The women would then cook it all with the "fixins." A grdat time. On the other hand I am half Indian and this day celebrates the beginning of the demise of my other culture.
Was this post for me? haha!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat!!!? You don't like Thanksgiving either?

ReplyDeleteA disclaimer for those of us that really don't care much for Thanksgiving - it doesn't mean we aren't thankful! :)

I could eat a Thanksgiving meal every day which would include a nap afterwards. I just don't like to do any cooking or cleaning.

and Kim--yes, a nap must definitely be included in the day, even if it's short.
