Summer Plans

My son says my list of summer plans shouldn't be called a "Bucket List". I guess that's because a true bucket list, when complete, gives you permission to die, and that is not part of my plan, at least not yet. Perhaps one of you has a fancy shmancy name for the kind of list I'm making, something more fun than "check list".

So anyway, here is my preliminary list of "Things to Do This Summer". We'll make it thirteen things cause it's more cool that way, and besides, that make this post a Thursday Thirteen and you can play the game too. :)

Things to Do This Summer

1. Go to a ball game
2. Hit the beach
3. Camp out over night
4. Go fishing
5. Take a boat ride
6. Visit a waterfall
7.  Have a picnic
8. Go horseback riding
9. Meet a friend for breakfast
10. Buy an ice cream cone
11. Go for a bike ride
12. Play miniature golf
13. Take a hike or two... or three

Some of my ideas are simple, some sound more simple than they really are, and some are simple but haven't happened in years, like the boat ride and ball game. Others might have already happened, but I plan on doing again, like buying an ice cream cone. Anyone want to come along?

    1. Horseback riding is attainable. One of these days I'll go to riding lessons with my daughter. Maybe I'll fall in love with a horse too.
Got a baby shower to go to on Saturday. I'm going to miss the Apple Blossom Parade!

    1. I love your list! You should put it on your sidebar and put a check by them when you enjoy each one!

    1. The nice thing about living in upstate NY, CountryDew, is there are so many waterfalls to choose from. I could visit a dozen!

  5. OH! I had such a good time when last I played miniature golf, but that was two summers ago! Thanks for reminding me! I must promise myself to get a game together this summer.

    1. Is it summer yet? Or do I have to wait until June?

  6. sounds like an adventuresome summer. I want to get out camping and canoeing too. I agree on the bucket list. our city magazine suggested a week's bucket list and it sounded like they expected an apocalypse the next week.

    1. That's kind of funny. Guess it was a "Do or Die" kind of list, huh?

    2. think it was more spin. it didn't seem like an exceptional list.

  7. Fun list, Martha--though I think "buy ice cream" should be weekly at the very least. ;-)

    1. Ice cream on a weekly basis... Hmmm, I'll have to give that some consideration. :)

  9. Sounds so lovely. My winter list? Stay warm, and try not to be envious of Martha's summer list! ;)

    1. Oh, Ruth! When we are looking to winter, I will be thinking about your trips to the beach. We live opposite lives on the same planet. Kind of funny, isn't it?

  10. It is so strange to think of the weather getting hotter for you at the moment.

We have had an unusually warm May this year, but in the last few days the evenings and mornings have started to feel colder!

In Sydney though, it doesn't really get too cold, nor are the days much shorter than the summer days, and our winter really is only a couple of months, and by October we're back to outdoor swimming and ice creams again till April the next year....your list just sounds so enticing!

(Although I suspect the ball game you are talking about isn't cricket!)

    1. No, but I do look forward to hearing them (the crickets) sing on hot summer nights. :)

  11. Maybe I should do one too. I feel like life is passing me by sometimes. How do you make a check mark?

      Worked like a charm :)

  12. great list, and I am going to make one too...and agree that things like getting an ice cream cone deserve a place on a list like this, because sometimes things as simple as this do get overlooked and forgotten.
