Farewell October

Another October has come to a close, just few more hours and it will be gone. It has been a month of many colors, most of which are now scattered across the yard. High in the branches of the oak tree a leaf or two bravely hold, but resistance is futile. Squirrels scamper through the branches jumping from one tree to another, and the winds grow increasingly cold. Tomorrow we will awake to November.

A fire in the wood stove drove out the dampness this morning. I kept it going on into the afternoon until I forgot about it in my quest to get dinner on the table. Mom remarked on how dark it was outside at 6:30 pm. Little does she know that next week when we turn the clocks back it will be so dark by 5:30 pm.

My days of taking off in search of autumn are over for another year. I have been blessed beyond measure with opportunities to capture the paintbrush of the Master Artist at work this season. Soon His brush will wield another color and my photos will turn white.

    1. For a second I thought you were asking where my old background went. Then I realized you meant October. (Silly me!) I decided I wasn't ready for winter quite yet.

  2. Not too white, too soon, I hope!!!
It's not so pretty... but last year's winter was just fine by my eye. ;)

    1. I looked at my oak tree this morning on my way to the bus stop with the girls and it's covered with leaves. The maple trees are mostly bare. No wonder they don't say, "I feel like the last leaf on the mighty maple."

  3. I like the fact that you are switching up your backgrounds...everytime I try to do that...I lose all my fonts, and have to reset everything...arrrrgh...Maybe I will try again, when it gets later in the season...
I have enjoyed all of your fall photos...I am sure you will find something interesting for us!!!

    Cheers!
    Linda :o)

    1. I like to try on new "blog clothes" as the seasons change. This time it worked out that the font colors all still match very well. Maybe after Thanksgiving I'll go with a Christmas theme.

I do intend to find some beautiful winter photos. I wonder where my travels will take me?
