Today would have been my dad's 81st birthday. It's hard to believe he's been gone over three years now. Just thinking about him can still make my eyes sting and my throat tighten up, but I know he wouldn't want us to live our lives in constant grief, and most days I am able to smile a the memories and thank God for the gift of an incredibly wonderful dad. He was one of the best! No doubt I will miss him until we meet again.

that is such a great picture of your parents, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I took it at Bethany's wedding. For a time my parents went to church with us and I would often look over at them sitting together and tuck the scene away in my mind, after all we didn't know how long Mom would be with us. Little did we know that we would say goodbye to Dad first.
DeleteI've thought of him too today...and tomorrow is Jamie's dad's birthday. The first we've had without him. He would have been 89.
ReplyDeleteThought of him all day as well. Strange to think he would have been 81.
