Up in the mountains of western Pennsylvania, along the Alleghany River between Franklin, PA and Oil City, is the Joseph Sibley Castle, also known as Christ's Castle, because it is now a Christian retreat center owned by Life Ministries. (This is the back of the castle. For a front view, some history, and a ton more pictures, click here.)
Up the hill and down the road behind the castle, is a little country church. Though I have some knowledge of the castle, I know very little about the little white church.
Update (yes, already)- Some information on the little white church here.

PS. If you got here searching for Life Ministries or Christ's Castle, leave a little note to say hello. Even though I've been there only three times, The Castle is one of my favorite places.

What a sweet little church. I am much more inclined toward the small and simple than the castle, but both are lovely in their own right. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe castle is simple in its own right, the fancy furnishings long ago removed by the former owners. The halls go on and on and it has a storybook air to it. Maybe one day I will go back and visit again...
ReplyDeleteWhat picturesque buildings in such lovely landscape!
ReplyDeleteI miss attending retreats. Christ's Castle is perfect for C.
ReplyDeletePlease come and see my C, thanks a lot!
The castle looks like an interesting place to stay. The photo of the little white church reminds me of the one we served many years ago in Canada.
ReplyDeleteLooks an interesting place to stay, especially the tower (with views). White churches always look so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute country church!
ReplyDeleteNot familiar. But interesting.
