Lies and Slander

You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
Exodus 23:1

Mark Twain said, "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes," but in our modern world of electronic technology a lie can travel to the moon and back before truth even has a chance to reach for its shoes.

Why would anyone circulate a lie in the cloak of confession?

My mind is spinning. My heart is heavy...

  1. What are you alluding to?
This is feeling like a blog you may either want to tell the public the whole story or make it private and invite the selected few who know what you are talking about.
I sign it anonymous but you'd know it was me anyway. hugs.

  2. There are some stories that should not be told in detail...

There are rumors circulating regarding one of my children. I am not so naive to believe my children are perfect or beyond committing the "unthinkable" but there comes a time when stories go too far, when their only purpose is to manipulate and destroy. I fear this is such a case.

  3. I'm sorry for what you are dealing with, Martha. You are so right. With just a little click, so many people can read what we write, true or not.

  5. I really don't know what's going on either. I'll pray for you though.

  6. Do you want me to bite her? It makes me so mad too. I don't know what to do or say.

  7. No, Beth, biting never solved anything. Just pray for wisdom and a wet blanket to put out the fire.

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. Proverbs 26:20

Somehow the fire must either be allowed to go out or be smothered. (Pray for rain!)

  8. I will pray for the situation too, even though I don't know what's going on either.

  9. I like that Proverbs 26:20 verse.. asking our Father for soaking rain.

  10. This sounds crummy Martha. I think your plan of action is wise - it will die out at some point. If not, it's still the right thing to not add to it.

  11. Martha ~~ just read your prayer on "Daily Prayer" blog. Welcome and what a blessing you will as we all need daily prayer.
