A is for Again

A is for again. It is time for another round of ABC Wednesday and I am trying to decide whether to continue the game or take a vacation.

A is also for ants (again). We have an abundance of ants this year, tiny little ants whose favorite food right now appears to be cat food. First they were eating just the bits that fell to the floor, then they discovered the bowl up on the shelf. This morning they have found the entire stash of food for felines. Thankfully the box is almost empty. I think it is time for drastic ant eradication measures.

  1. Glad you are going to continue with ABC. I always enjoy your entries. Ants are no friends of mine. Nasty little critters.

  3. Sure hope you keep on with ABCW. We get ants every year, but mostly they're outside. They're awful, but the puppy has a great time with them.

    1. My poor little dog has had a dish full of ants every once in a while. She isn't keen on eating them. I guess they tickle.

    1. I've tried throwing them out, vacuuming them up, drowning them, flushing them, and squashing them. I'm about to try covering them in chocolate.

  6. Whenever I have to spray to control pests, I'm always worried that the cats will walk on it and then lick their feet. But you can't have ants in the house! You may have to look around the outside of your house to see if you can find where they are coming in, then spray out there.
Hope you get them under control (killed) soon.

    1. I'm thinking it's because of all the rain. You know, like the song says, "The ants go marching one by one... to get out of the rain. Boom, boom, boom, boom."

  10. All ants are creepy but the red ones are also vicious. Good idea to eradicate.

  11. BABY POWDER!!

We had an invasion a few years ago and I sprinkled it on the perimeter inside door sills, around the walls, etc. Since we had pets, I was not interested in using poisons.

This spring, I figured "haven't seen any ants in a while, might as well clean up this old baby powder", and would you believe, within less than a week one morsel of lettuce that fell from my lunch salad that day caused an invasion. Again with the baby powder (which I have left there this time), and we haven't seen any more indoors.

Good luck with this, it is very annoying!
