Winter's Last Blast (I hope...)

It may be spring in Portland, Oregon and southern California, but in Upstate NY it is still winter. Winter has its icy grip on us once again. Last night we were blessed with several inches of snow and today that is being topped off with some freezing rain. Tomorrow is forcast to bring more snow and after that... well, who knows, anything could happen.

The best way to deal with unwanted winter weather is to make the best of it. It's all in the attitude. It's still great weather to curl up with a good book, set out to do a puzzle, or share a cup of coffee with a friend. It's wonderful weather for baking cookies, good for watching movies, and great for snuggling. I should probably be cleaning the house right now...

  1. From this morning's newspaper- "By Sunday morning, the Rochester area should see 12 to 15 inches.

March can be one of the snowiest months in western New York, Hibbert said. On March 4, 1999, Rochester received 22 inches. Two days later, another storm dumped 19 inches on the region."

    Oh yeah! Lots of fun!

  2. Well that is not good news. Go be a grandma and make cookies, craft a project, good pictures of the ice and snow!

  4. I had a great winter attitude- probably my best ever until about the third week in January.

  5. Yes, good cookie baking weather. I watched a wonderful movie last night ~~ I've been wating for it to be priced reasonable and it was at Wal*Mart yesterday.
"Miss Potter" The story of the life of Beatix Potter who wrote all the Petter Rabbit books in the early 1900. Great movie and really close to her biography.

  6. Oh, I remember that storm in 1999. Such fun and full of excitement! Alan was stuck in Webster and they closed Xerox. He finally got home around 11pm and I just barely had shoveled out a little spot for his car in the driveway. In NJ, we had a snow day for 3 inches. Just six hours away and yet totally different in their winters!

  7. It's been a really hot few days here...and we're meant to be heading into Autumn (which I think you call 'fall'??)...but we've had a much milder summer this year, and praise God, we've had a lot of rain. New South Wales (the state that Sydney is the capital of) has been in drought for many years now, so rain is often prayed for, and much needed.
