He was born on Friday the 13th to an unwed mother with four older children. Although she wanted desperately to keep the tiny child, she had nothing to offer him, so she made a most difficult decision. He was just six days old when she took her infant son, laid him in the arms of the young couple, and said good bye forever.
Although they had prayed earnestly for a child, the young couple had not expected to become parents that evening. They hadn't time to collect the supplies needed for a baby. They had no bottles or formula, no clothing or diapers, not even a crib for him to sleep in. They left the meeting place in a daze. Several hours later, laden with borrowed supplies, they took the little boy home. The next morning a lawyer was contacted and the child was soon adopted. They named him Danny.
He grew up in a happy home with a mom and dad who loved him dearly. The house was filled with love and laughter. There were toys and games, books and bikes, vacations and Sunday school. He shared his home and parents with a brother and three sisters. It didn't matter that his eyes were big and brown while the rest of the children were blond haired and blue-eyed. He was a son and a brother; he belonged to this family and they belonged to him.

ReplyDeleteYes, very good post. I read it imagining what it must have been like for the woman who gave birth to him...what a painful thing to have to do, but very loving. I'm so glad she gave him to us!
