Looking for the Changing Seasons

It is a beautiful August day. The air is a little cooler yet still warm enough to feel like summer. Thus begins my very favorite time of year. I love the crispness of a cool breeze and being able to wear long sleeves without feeling hot. The colors will soon begin to change from the greens of summer to the golden soft browns and oranges of autumn as the Lord wields his master paintbrush once again. September is just around the corner, a time for a final round of picnics, outdoor gatherings, and maybe a bonfire. The workers will be out picking apples in the orchards and we'll be buying cider and making pies. Take a deep breath. Can you smell it in the air?

  2. Oh dear... Where has summer gone to? And when will it come back? Must we wait another year in order to sit sweating at the sandy beaches? Oh, summer has coma and gone too quickly. No more time for a relaxing beach day.

  3. Yes I surtenly feel as if the summer has passed too quickly. But then again I do like the feel in winter where you can go outside, get all numb, come in, take a warm shower, and snuggle up in bed in all the warm, cozy covers. O.k now I want winter to come! But that also means school starts! Well, I guess each season has it's advantages.

  4. Summer is not quite over yet, it's only August 21st, but I do notice that the evenings and nights are quite a bit cooler. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. I always get the "warm fuzzies" in autumn, and I want to do lots of baking of pies, and cut out cookies with the kids. It's also a time for cooking all those things I don't cook in the summer, like chili, soups, stew, etc. For some reason I always want to shop too. I'm not quite sure why.

  5. I love fall as well...things cool down, colors become so beautiful. But it's a toss up whether I like fall better or spring better. I like spring too because things start to warm up and the colors start changing but in the opposite way from fall. Although spring starts our hectic season with kids sports activities so maybe I like fall better. LOL ;-)

  6. I think I like fall better than spring because it isn't typically as wet and muddy and the colors are so beautiful. There is an excitement in the air that I can't quite explain.

  8. Martha... I had to laugh! I know you like fall cuz of the colors and all and yes, they are pretty, but think about it... That also means SCHOOL!!! Do you really want to go there? LOL. And it also means that winter is right around the corner - YUCK! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE summer. The only problem with summer - it's just too short around here! And it seems like it gets crazier and crazier because it is so short we have to do it all in 2 months and then it's gone... Sorry, but now I'm getting depressed.... I'll have to console myself by thinking about all those yummy, juicy fresh apples. I do so enjoy a good fresh, crisp apple!! :)
