L is for Look!

L is for Look!

Look what I have in my garden!!! In spite of the snowstorm that dropped five or six inches of wet, heavy snow on us between Saturday night and Sunday morning, we have flowers. I came home from a day out to find my snowdrops had miraculously popped out of the ground. My friend says, "their circadian rhythm was humming under the snow." She says it's "magic". I had to look it up.

Circadian rhythms occur as a plant entrains to synchronize with the light cycle of its surrounding environment. Wikipedia

Sounds cool to me. I'm just happy to see that spring is actually beginning to show its pretty face.

    1. These are always my first flowers, but they typically have more int he way of greenery than they do at this particular moment.
Yes, everyone should have a Drabbit or two, just for fun and to make people do double-takes as you walk by. (You can make their heads move and then they look alive.)

  2. Oh precious little flower pushing it's way through the snow...What a lesson.

I see one iris about to bloom in my back yard.

    1. I was genuinely surprised to see them actually blooming. They were scarcely popping out of the ground before the snowstorm. (And they say there isn't a God...)

    1. 73!!! Oh yes! Send it this way, please.
My daffodils are a long way off, I'm afraid.
But then again, I wasn't expecting my snowdrops to appear quite so suddenly.

  6. The first snowdrop is always a special moment. We had such a long cold spell last year that they lasted an amazing amount of time. I kept looking at them in a mix of joy and disbelief. This year it has been so warm so they were quite fleeting, happily we are now with the daffodils.

    1. I'm thinking these will be fleeting also. At least I am hoping for a good warming trend here.
