* Tonight I am exhausted. It was a long day and my whole body is tired, especially my feet.I won't be staying awake long.
* One of the residents told me I had "permanent greasy eyes." I'm not sure what that means, but I'm not too worried about it.
* One of our residents had a very nice conversation with me while she soaked in the whirlpool tub. I learned that she had "Cadillacs" removed from her eyes. Makes me glad mine are just greasy. ha ha!
* I hadn't been at work too long this morning when one of the workers on our floor who I'd not seen before, asked if I used to go to the church on the Ridge. I said we had and she said, Didn't you have a lot of kids?" Turns out she had been a little girl years ago when we went to the Baptist church in Sodus. The really funny thing is that I had looked at another worker just a few days ago and thought of this very girl. It wasn't her, it was her mother. Small towns are so weird.

"Permanent greasy eyes"? I'll bet she meant permanent creases around your eyes, and don't worry about it, so do Dave and I and many others I know, lol! You're beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDidn't I say I wasn't worried? She wasn't being mean when she said it and she's not always completely in the rocker, if you know what I mean.

I'm am laughing so hard. I wonder what greasy eyes are! Hilarious. You need to keep a little journal and write these little things down!
ReplyDeleteI really should be writing them down. by the time I get home I'm almost too tired to remember anything. I do wonder what greasy eyes are but it isn't losing me any sleep. I was most amused by the resident who had "cadillacs" removed from her eyes.

I love talking with the residents where we volunteer. We go with our big black Lab once a week and they love him. We hear all sorts of stories about when they had a dog. Some rarely speak, but when they see the dog they have lots to say. Amazing isn't it? Sometimes they say funny things though don't they? One lady said to me " I think I just pooped" ^^ I love volunteering there. :-)

It's definitely an interesting job. There are a few residents with lower than average intelligence and then there are those with one type of dementia or another. Never a dull moment, or at least not many.
