In the Quiet

Two "quiet" days in a row. School girls come and go mornings and afternoons, but otherwise the house is quiet and still. Dishes pile up slowly and toys stay mostly in their place. The phone seldom rings, and the television remains silent. I fill the wood stove when my feet start to get cold and try to keep dust from accumulating on furniture.  I was asked the other day if I miss my grandchildren. I do miss them. But I am happy right now to be their grandma instead of their babysitter. It finally feels like I am beginning to iron the "wrinkles" out of my brain.
Of course, one look at those snowmen driving around in cars might make some of you wonder... ha ha!

    1. They make me smile too. Now if only I could find a way to keep them. Oh, wait! That's why I took their picture.

    1. Not big enough, Wanda. They're already starting fade. Snowmen don't last long.
I miss you too. We should do it again.
