The Blue Jays Came for Breakfast

The blue jays came to visit this morning. Three or four of them were hanging out in the weeping birch outside by the driveway. I think they were looking for some breakfast. I'm not sure what they found to eat, but maybe I can pick up something they would like while I'm out shopping later today. I think they like peanuts. I found them eating those one Christmas morning. They were sharing with some squirrels who also happen to like peanuts.

We got some more snow last night. If this is any indication of what's to come, I think we'd better prepare ourselves for a long, cold, and snowy winter. (They even had snow in Cairo, Egypt the other day!) Sure is pretty even if it is a nuisance. Bethany managed a game of bumper cars the other day and Ben hit an iceberg head on yesterday morning. I'm so glad Hannah took her road test before all the snow showed up.

Hope all of you are staying safe!

    1. I bought a nice big bag of peanuts. I'm supposing the "furbirds" will like those too.

  2. I am so jealous - Blue Jays are my favorite birds - we had one that would fly down the creek before dark during the late summer...we had 3 or 4 of them when we lived in Sodus and feed the birds, they would eat the seed right with the other birds on the feeders...not at all nasty like their reputation.

    1. I think we could have a great variety of feathered friends if I was diligent about leaving food, but some of this food is pretty pricey. So, I've decided to feed the feeder occasionally instead of all the time. Probably more rewarding to feed and watch birds than lots of other things.

  3. All I can say is you girls get all the good birds. Cardinals, bluejays...I get sparrows. But then you get the snow too. Guess I can't have everything!

    1. I get sparrows too, and more of them than anything else. But then again, you know whose eye is on the sparrow... :0)
