If there must be a large puddle in the backyard, we could at least find a boat or two to sail. That is exactly what Hannah and Em decided to do this afternoon. Hannah was smart about it and tied a couple of strings on the boats this year. Of course, she was the one who had to wade out and get them a few years back. (See here.) Em found sailing to be great fun and I was glad to have purchased a small pair of rain boots so she could get close to the water. Oh what fun we are going to have while the water lasts! (I wonder if little boys like sailing boats as much as little girls?)

ReplyDeleteHow fun! My kids always love to go puddle stomping when we have heavy rains. They know exactly where in the neighborhood the big puddles will be, so everyone heads there after the rain...and sometimes during...for some run.
ReplyDeleteWe have some little ponds like that, too! They are iced over thinly in the morning and melt by noon. I haven't been out to play in them though..just content to look at them from the window. ha.
ReplyDeleteThis "little" pond is not really little and it won't be drying up until the polliwogs move in. Sometimes one just has to make the best of a not-so-ideal situation and that is why I bought the boats a few years ago. :)
