3X Thursday

Choosing questions is hard. I hope these generate at least a little bit of conversation, because conversation is what it's all about.

1. Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

2. How many pairs of shoes do you own? (It's been asked repeatedly and always makes me think of Kristina's original post. Please visit.)

3. Have you ever had a secret admirer?

  1. 1. I have had a variety of nicknames through the years. I was tagged as "Bertha" in my childhood neighborhood. It never felt like a loving nickname until some of my friends shortened it to "Bert" in high school. My sister Rachel calls me "Barty" which is kind of a combination of Marty and Bert.

    2. I haven't counted yet... Okay, I have 12 pairs of footwear (sneakers, flip flops, sandals, boots, dress shoes, and slippers).

    3. Secret admirers are secret so we are oft times unaware of their admiration. I've been told I once had secret admirers. As a small child the sister of one such admirer asked me my name and then blurted out, "My brother loves you!" That kind of let the cat out of the bag. And, on the other side of things, I have admired secretly also.

  2. This is Rachel. My account must have been hacked and I can't comment as me anymore and I can't figure out how to fix it. :P

    1. Yes. Rachie, Rachie Baby, and Precious. (Dave's mom's cousin, Tom, has always called me that.)

    2. Too many to count. I would have to search them all out. My warm weather footwear is in Florida (2 pairs). Dave's parents are bringing them home.

    3. Yes, I guess so. I got roses anonymously a couple of times when I was a teenager. I did eventually find out who sent them, but I was interested in someone else. We never spoke. I felt awkward thanking him for the flowers when I wasn't interested. I was afraid he might ask me out and then I'd have to say no. :(

  4. 1. Yes. Chunky, when I started making my own lunches in jr-hi that was dropped for hey you.
    2. When I married Papa I quit counting.
    3. First part of my freshman year someone would leave me wildflowers on my back porch early every school morning. When he started picking my mom's tulips and daffodils he was caught. Jim Francis, my high school sweetheart and my first husband, Thea's dad.

  5. 1. Of course, I wasn't born with the name Annie...my real name is Ann. Also, my mommy calls me Sunshine.

    2. I'm not sure of this anymore. After I gave birth, I found out my feet grew a full size. I've up sized a number of my shoes, but am still reluctant to get rid of some of them. So, I don't know how many I have because I don't know how many actually fit. :-(

    3. Can't say I have...maybe they are still secret ;-)

  6. 1. A few of my nick names throughout my life. Pris, Scilly, Zsa Zsa, PJ.
    2. Do snow boots and slippers count? Not counting them, I have 11. That's counting 2 pairs of sandals and a pair of hiking shoes.
    3. Not that I know of.

  7. 1. My real name is Judith, but I've been called Judy for as long as I can remember, except for my cousin, about 10 years my senior who ALWAYS called me 'punkin baby,' which I detested!!

    2. Until recently, I probably had 3 pr. shoes, but I have probably 10 now, due to trying to find something with good arch support.

    3. If I ever did have a secret admirer, they were great at keeping it a secret.

    Fun questions. :-))

  10. 1. my favorite nickname was "John" which I was called in my sophomore math class. It was a random nickname I got because I was taking a class with mostly Jr's and they didn't know my name.
    2. I have approx 24 pairs. I just eyeballed the stack in my closet which hasn't changed much since I took that picture Kristina used in her original post. LOL
    3. I suppose I have had secret admirers in the past, but I'm not really sure.
