Bits and Pieces

* On Sunday afternoon my older younger sister invited me over for dinner. I was so tired when I arrived that I took a pre-dinner nap. Ha ha! Just curled up on the sofa, put my head on my wadded up jacket, and went to sleep. I felt much better afterward. It's nice visiting someone who loves me enough to let me sleep for a bit. Of course, it helps that I've let her take a nap at my house too.
:0)

* Yesterday was spaghetti and meatball day at work. It's a favorite with the kids. Somehow I managed to sneak in a batch (or two) of applesauce cake for snack too! Smelled yummy at daycare.

* The babies have had colds and runny noses. I was back in the baby room for the evening, tissues in hand, when I noticed Derek was in need. There was a white booger peeking out of his nose. I wiped/grabbed it and was in for a surprise. It was a piece of spaghetti! Well, just a quarter piece. I broke them in quarters before cooking them for the little ones. (So gross! Ha ha!)

* I went to work a half hour early today on dry, clear roads. I drove home this evening through snow and slush. I think "wintry mix" is right! Powdery snow, sleet, freezing rain... I even heard some people got hail. Ah, nothing is unheard of and anything is possible. Can't wait to see what tomorrow morning looks like.

(The photos are old. That's my Number One grandchild a few years back.)

Kids and the Puppy

We had visitors last night, three more grandchildren and their sweet mama. Grandpa set some rules and let the dog out of her crate to play. "Lay down on the floor," he told them, "and put your face down on your arms." The dog went crazy, running circles around them, hopping across their backs, and stuffing her nose into their faces and under their necks. Giggles erupted from the boys which just made the dog run faster.

Jilly was a little overwhelmed and kept her distance, especially after the puppy jumped up and nearly knocked her over, but Jakie decided to become a puppy himself. He grabbed Nassa's stuffed dog with his teeth, like little boys will do, and had a good old fashioned game of Tug O'War with her while his  mother said, "Jake! Get that out of your mouth!" Yeah. Good luck with that. The game was just too fun to give up. Ha ha!

It was a nice evening. We ate ham, broccoli, and cheese soup, which the boys declared "delicious," munched on soft, crusty bread, and doled out lavish amounts of love and affection. When it was all said and done the little dog was more than ready for a nap.

Pass the Baby, Please...

Okay, here he is. Hold him carefully and please be gentle, he's just a little guy. Watch him make faces and suck on nothing. Listen to the little baby sounds he makes... awwwww! Doesn't he smell fresh and new?

Speechless...

Waiting for Baby

I think it may be harder waiting to hear news of my daughter having had her first baby than it was to actually go through it myself... (the phone is ringing!!!)

WE HAVE A BABY!

Adam just called. We have a "little" boy, 8 pounds 9 ounces, 21 inches long, at about 1 o'clock. His name is Joshua. (Adam is wondering why we aren't there, but I have Troy today and had to pick him up from preschool at noon... Nobody told me I was suppose to BE there!)

To My Fellow Floorpacers...

Sometime today I will sprout my first gray hair and become a full-fledged grandmother. Adam called and talked to James this morning, they are at the hospital and have been since about 3 am. All who would like to are welcome to pray and/or pace along with me.

Baby Stuff!

Saturday we cleaned the house, yesterday we partied, today we recover... (I have one of those "State Fair" headaches today, probably too much excitement yesterday... or maybe I just failed to drink anything other than coffee.)

Babies sure are spoiled these days! I don't know where Beth and Adam will put all the stuff they took home yesterday. Good thing they have a basement! There were all kinds of presents... I'm overwhelmed and I don't have to figure out what to do with everything. I guess all she needs now is diapers (I should have bought those).

When I had my babies we had a crib and a bassinet, a baby swing, and an umbrella stroller. Oh yeah, and a car seat, although Jimmy didn't need one until he was about a year old. Things sure have gotten complicated.

Halfway There

Lori, if you're out there, here she is...
Bethany is about 20 weeks along now. She's looking pregnant but she's still just a little thing. Here she is, barefoot and pregnant, showing us her little vegetable garden.
Auntie Lori tells me that Grandma's always know what the baby is going to be... ahhh... I think it's a... baby. I really haven't a clue as to if its a boy or a girl. (Never was good at that.) Wednesday is the big ultrasound but Beth wants to be surprised so she's hoping she doesn't find out whether its a boy or girl. Haven't heard any talk of names and they aren't decorating the nursery yet either.

We took one of the rhubarb pies Hannah and I baked today, and a half gallon of ice cream and stopped over at Beth and Adam's house tonight for some dessert. She's still sweet on her daddy. Can't say as I blame her, I'm kinda sweet on him too.
