Grandma's Room and Chicken Dust

The chicks have moved out of the house and into the barn. We've had them "cooped up" in Grandma's room for the past three weeks and boy do they ever create some dust! It took me hours to wipe down and clean that stuff out of there. Next time we get chicks they're staying in the barn.

Anyway, I didn't spend a ton of time outside in the sunshine, but I did open the window to let some fresh air in while I cleaned, and I feel so much better now that it's done, except that I'm exhausted. Ha!

Guess I'd better run out and feed and water the girls before it gets dark.

  1. I hope that you enjoy your chickens, eggs are now less than $1 a dozen.

  2. Sorry.......didn't mean to delete....trying to edit. Now what did I say? Eggs from chickens roaming and scratching in nature are so good. That's the only kind I buy anymore. No hormones and antibiotics in their food. We had chickens when I was a kid and used to dig worms and throw them in the pen and dad would throw in some of the grass cuttings when he cut the grass. They would pick and scratch. When one would get broody my mum would put some ceramic eggs under her for a while and she would sit on them to hatch them and then when it was dark they would take away the ceramic eggs and put a dozen day old chicks under her. She would think her eggs hatched!!!:-) :-). This was waaaaaaay back in the 40's and early 50's when I was a kid in Australia. Enjoy your girls!!

    1. I remember my dad saying they would put glass eggs in the nest area to get their chicken to lay eggs. I am enjoying the adventure so far.
