The Barn Collective

" 'Billy Bob loves Charlene' in John Deere Green..."

In this case "Becky loves Al." I'd guess it's been painted there for about fifteen years now. I remember when the paint was drying... so to speak. I've seen barns with other messages, but this one is special.

It's in rough shape. Trees came up on opposing corners eventually squeezing the life out of it and rendering it unsafe. You wouldn't know from the front, but I took a walk around the back side...

Someone (Al) tried to save it years ago. He built a concrete block support under the beam. That and the doors (where Becky painted her John Deere Green message) have provided just enough strength to keep her standing. How long the old barn will last is anybody's guess.

For now Becky's John Deere Green love story remains. A tribute to the man she once loved and still loves today.

It's gonna be a scorcher today. Come on over to Tom's for a tall glass of ice cold lemonade.

  3. ...I think that this one is on the south side of Ridge Road, haven't been by it in a while. Neat find. We are having tall glasses of ice water with a slice of lemon!

    1. You are right, Tom.
I don't know why it took me so long to think of putting this one here. Becky is a long time friend. She is the one I called to get an ice cream with me.
      Enjoy your lemon water!

  4. Awww...hope their love lasts much longer than the barn. It was a sweet message on a lovely barn, sadly now falling away.

  5. Well that's fun. I'm glad that Becky loves Al. Hopefully the barn will last as long as the love...

  6. Regarding the Becky Loves Al barn, was this on Ridge Road in Wayne County and does it appear on multiple sides of the barn? I ask because I have a pic of the same "Becky Loves Al" heart and it is on a side facing the road. Perhaps there are two or they moved one the doors to one side of the barn, the side that faces the road. Comment if you remember the location.

    1. Yes, Ridge Rd just east of the town of Williamson. The doors always faced the road, but the barn fell down a year ago. A friend helped Beck salvage the doors, a precious tribute to her late husband Al.
