Practicing Compassion

Thinking about it... Working on it... Treating myself kindly, that is. Trying to remember to put my own oxygen mask in place before attempting to help others. It can be hard to do.

  1. You can't be of help to others if you don't take care of yourself. Selfless? NO!

  2. Food for thought....for sure!
Having a lazy day with my miserable cold...
    And...horrible heat outside...
    Time for me to regroup!
    Cheers!

    1. Chewing, chewing...
Yes, the air is oppressive and the rain only made it worse.
      Regroup. Yes.

  3. It is food for thought for sure. I think most mothers put themselves at the bottom of the list, and really they should be on the top. It is true that if mum gets sick enough to stay in bed ( which she rarely seems to have you noticed) everyone seems to be lost. That was my experience anyway. So these are good words to live by.

    1. There is a time and place for love that is truly sacrificial, but if one finds himself completely used up, there will be nothing left to sacrifice next time. Somehow, the world goes on, even when we can't participate.

  4. I'm trying really hard to get out of my "funk"....perhaps I need to help myself a little more..and show myself a little compassion. Will ponder your thoughts Martha.

    1. I love you, Wanda. Maybe you're the one I was supposed to be praying for when I couldn't sleep last night.
